We had a customer hang up on my salesman and still think he was getting a deal, a dealer tried to slide us an M5 with severe structural damage, and Phoenix Police called with an update on the guy who scammed us.
Let’s get into it.
If You “Only Want George” You’re Not Buying
When someone calls the dealership and says, “I only want to talk to George,” it’s almost never a deal.
We had a guy call in on a G-Wagon and literally hang up on Tony because he didn’t want the “pitch.” He wanted me. Like I’m supposed to drop everything, jump on the phone, and beg him to buy a car.
So I call him back. I’m like, “Did you really just hang up on my guy?” And he admits it. No shame. Just, “Yeah, I wanted to talk to you.”

Customers who only want to talk with me almost never work out.
Okay, then come in, shake hands, and do business like an adult. Don’t disrespect my team like that.
He throws out an offer of $165K on the G63 Edition 55 and claims he’ll wire or finance. We’re going back and forth internally: Do we sell it, do we counter, do we hold firm?
And then what happens?
Exactly what always happens with customers who only want to talk to me. He disappears. Doesn’t call back.
But the funniest part is another buyer comes in right behind him and buys the car at the same number. Ready to move. Ready to wire. Ready to pay shipping. No drama.
That’s the lesson: serious buyers don’t need a celebrity phone call. They need a clean deal.
From now on, if you can’t give my team the respect to do the basics (buy/sell, trade details, timeline) then I’m not getting on the phone.
Dealers Shouldn’t Be Trying to Screw Other Dealers
We’ve got an M5 showing up, and Eric runs the AutoCheck before we do anything.
He goes, “Yeah… this thing has severe structural damage.” Then it’s like the list just keeps going. Unknown tires. Unknown tune. No cats.

This isn’t not a small oversight – this is a dealer trying to slide a problem car into our lap and hope we don’t notice.
I don’t care if you’re a dealer or a private seller: disclose what the car is. Because what always happens is the same dance: “Oh, I didn’t know,” or “my guy didn’t tell me,” or “it was fine when we had it.”
No, you knew. Or you didn’t check. And both are unacceptable.
That’s why I keep talking about disclosure and accountability. If you’re selling a car, sell it the way it is. If it’s got issues, price it like it’s got issues. Don’t try to dress it up and let someone else eat it.
And if you’re selling through Dealer Club, it’s even simpler: list the car exactly how you see it. Frame it, paint, tune, exhaust, warnings, all of it. Because the whole point of Dealer Club is to keep it clean for everybody. Because if the dealer buys it and it’s not what you said it was, you’re not just burning a bridge, you’re also getting yourself kicked off the platform.
Police Update: My Employee Scammed Me out of $80,000
I’m in the middle of a normal day and I get a call I never want to get again. It’s the Phoenix Police.
It’s about the Brett Holmes situation. The “employee” that worked for us remotely for two weeks and scammed us out of $80,000.
The investigator tells me they’re trying to locate him and guess what? He has a warrant out for his arrest. Fraud. Title fraud. Vehicle fraud. The same stuff. Different victims.
And that’s the part that really gets me. Because it confirms what I already knew: this wasn’t a mistake. This wasn’t “a kid who messed up.” This is his playbook.
Here’s the video from February if you want the whole story:
So I’m putting it out there once and I’m done carrying it around: if anyone actually knows where this guy is, the police are looking for him. He was arrested in Phoenix back in September, and now they’re trying to pick him up again.
